So I had an interesting support case the other day. I was adding another module to a GP instance on a workstation. After I had selected the instance to add the module to the next window, Add/Remove Features, was blank! I have never seen this before. I searched for an answer and found another article buried on the Microsoft Support site. Everyone should know this!  It is Article ID 2581260.

My problem was a missing registry key value in the ‘Country’ entry. This entry is required in order to view the list of features. Of course I had selected the county on the initial workstation install but I don’t have an answer as to why it was missing in the registry.

Here are the steps to edit the registry. WARNING: Problems may occur if you incorrectly modify the registry. Back up your registry and modify at your own risk.

  1. Click Start, Run and type Regedit. Then click Ok to open the Registry Editor.
  2. Browse to HKEY_Local_MachineSOFTWARE
  3. For a 32-bit operating system continue to …MicrosoftBusiness SolutionsGreat Plainsv11.01033.
  4. For a 64-bit operating system continue to …Wow6432NodeMicrosoftBusiness SolutionsGreat Plainsv11.01033.
  5. Right-click the instance folder that has the issue and click Export. Export the key for a backup.
  6. Expand the instance that has the problem and click the SETUP folder to view the contents
  7. Double click the ‘Country’ key and enter the appropriate value. This value must match the country/region that was selected during installation. For example, if the county is United States enter ‘United States’.
  8. Click OK and close the Registry Editor. The Select Features window will now be available.

This worked perfectly for me! Hopefully you will never have to deal with this, but if you do, you know have the solution!
