Some nice Fixed Asset enhancements are coming with the release of Dynamics GP 2013. The Fixed Assets calendar can now be defined using the Fiscal Period Setup, Calendar Year or even a custom year. Custom year? What’s that? You can now build a Fixed Asset Calendar using a short or long year! I don’t know about you but I’ve had several clients who want a non-traditional year for depreciating their assets. I’m very happy about this enhancement!

The new Fixed Asset Intercompany Transfer feature will allow you to transfer an asset from one company to another. Fixed Assets will take care of all the accounting entries; retirement transaction in one company, acquisition transaction in the other company.

And how about being able to Auto Generate the next Asset ID? Yep, it’s here! So simple too…it’s just a checkbox! No more looking up your last Asset ID to find out what to number your new asset!

Nervous when you run the GL Posting routine because you just don’t know what’s happening? No edit list, no report, just a Progress button. Well now with GP 2013 you can see the transactions that will be sent over to the GL BEFORE the batch is created! With the redesign of this window you are able to more efficiently select the transactions you want to include in your GL batch, edit account numbers, print an edit list, save your batch and post right from the Fixed Assets General Ledger Posting window!

Do you get frustrated with the current depreciation reports available? Cannot print a historical report? With the redesign of the Depreciation Reports you can now enter a ‘Depreciation as of’ date!

So I hope these few enhancements have whet your appetite for what’s coming in December…get ready, it will be here before you know it!
