Payroll Tax Tables in GP

It’s that time of year where our support team receives dozens of emails inquiring about payroll taxes and the changes that the new year brings.  While a lot of payroll users know the ins and outs of payroll tax tables, a number are unaware that you can actually view and/or modify them within GP itself.  While typically you shouldn’t need to modify a tax table if you keep up with the automatic tax updates, you still have the ability to quickly fix the tax tables without digging out the latest Circular E.

To view these tax tables, go through Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > System > Payroll Tax.  At this point, you can enter the Tax Code that you want to look up (State, Federal, Medicare, Social Security, etc.) and click on Filing Status, which will open the Payroll Tax Status window.  Select your Filing Status (Married, Single, etc.) and then click on Tables.

Also, when you are in the Payroll Tax Setup window, you can view the Last Tax Update and the Last Tax Code Update fields.  These fields display the last date your tax table files were updated and the last date that your tax program code files were updated, respectively.
